The instrument 8170CF is a professional portable instrument to perform AC Dielectric Strength Test on electronic components, electric motors, armatures, coils, transformers. It is ideally suited for repair personnel, service centres and small productions.
The instrument is fully in accordance with the principal international standards.
The instrument supplies an AC voltage adjustable between 0 and 4000Vrms (5000 Vrms in the version 8170CF5). It contains a meter with a wide, clear scale, which continuously indicates the test voltage.
Dielectric strength tests are of the non-destructive type, with an automatic disconnection of the test voltage if the current exceeds a pre-set limit.
The instruments are equipped with both visual and audible indication of the NOGO condition, which occurs when the current exceeds a pre-set value or when flashover take places.
The possibility of carrying out destructive tests can be supplied on request. The time during which the test voltage is applied can be adjusted to any value between 1 and 60 seconds.
Models 8170CF/4 and CF/5, are also equipped with a detector of the capacitive current component, which is subtracted from the total measured current. This makes it possible to test components like high power motors which have a high capacitance to ground.
The instruments are housed in a suitable container which makes them safely transportable. If required, they can also be mounted on 19-inch racks. With the suitable options, it can be managed by a PLC for testing into an automatic line.
